Drain Leak on Keystone Sprinter 06

I was getting ready for my trip today and as I hooked up I noticed a water leak coming from the underneath insulation (right about where the shower and sink drain pipes are. I'm pretty sure its from the drain side rather than the fresh water side...when I got to my destination and hooked up the city water, I couldn't see any leak. I have just a hunch that as soon as I drain the tanks from the Bathroom(grey), I will get that leak. I'm going to have to take down the undercarriage insulation...do I need to replace that insulation or can I just let it dry out? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

RE: hot water heater

Folks on a related topic, I have a Suburban propane/electric water heater. I have never paid any attention to it, I go from RV Park to RV Park w/o ever worrying about it. I turn on the hot water & hot water comes out...so what is the problem? I am getting a groaning sound from the heater when I turn on the hot water in the kitchen or bathroom. I am going to Mexico and with my luck, as soon as I finishing hooking up, my water heater will go out.

RE: Where to Register Your Rig???

I guess I have more flexibility as to where I can register than I thought...but I looked all over the internet trying to find out which had the lowest rates with minimal results. Does anyone know which state has the lowest rates?

Where to Register Your Rig???

As a full timer, I spend an equal amount of time in California, Nevada and Arizona. As far as I know, that gives me the option of where to register. Does anyone know which state has the best rates?

RE: What state to register my new trailer...SD or CO?

Folks, I have a similar question. I tried digging this out of the internet but couldn't do it. I can register my truck and fiver in any of 3 states, NV, CA, or AZ. Anyone know the best deal out of the 3?

RE: san carlos rv parks

Rumor has it that the Marina purchased the El Mirador and that they are going to tear it down to build condos.

RE: Water Heater Issue.

Right, the furnace is not in use? I've never been outside when the pop happened. It doesn't happen very often. Yes, the water heater operates on propane. I went to the back of the trailer and removed the cover...it looks very similar to a standard furnace set up, ignitor switch etc. I believe it does have direct spark ignition but I've never actually been looking at the unit when it kicks on. The water heater has been essentially steady on for years. I'm unfamiliar with the lock-out issue. When I've changed parks, I've never had to relight or turn on or off etc.

Water Heater Issue.

Folks I'm looking for some reassurance that I have nothing to worry about...I have a 32' fiver with the rear kitchen. Every once in while I hear a pretty significant POP. The heater is not in use since its summer, the only thing in the general area is the water heater and the refrigerator (I recently had the recall work done on the refrigerator). I've checked the hot water and it is working fine. Does this warrant a trip to the shop?

RE: Beware of Mike Thompson's RV

I for one would never buy anything from a dealership that got a bad rating at this site. You have to be able to trust the people you are dealing with. I was treated by RV World, Yuma, AZ like they would like my business next time around. I'll be back when I upgrade.

RE: FAQ Mainland and Baja Border Paperwork

Thank you for your response, can I go to the border instead of the consulate and get everything done in advance?

RE: FAQ Mainland and Baja Border Paperwork

I reviewed all the threads I could find...and there is a lot good information out there. However, I am still left with a question; can I go to the consulate in Nogales, AZ and do ALL the paper work a day or two in advance.

RE: Beware of Mike Thompson's RV

I had my own negative experience with Mike Thompson in Fountain Valley, CA. It wasn't a big deal but it was enough to tell me that I was dealing with the wrong people. I ended up going all the way to Yuma Az, (RV World) to get my rig. I'm glad I did. When I upgrade, I know where I am going. An organization's climate is set by the top; they do the hiring, training, setting goals and standards. If top management gets a customer complaint...how they handle that complaint tells their staff A GREAT DEAL!!!

RE: 5th wheel or TT?

I think the first question to ask is "do you have a pickup bed this available to be dedicated to RV'ing. If you do, I would absolutely go with a fiver. They handle much better and I think their roomier. I've had a fiver for 2 years with extensive use and I would never trade it for a trailer. I have rented trailers in years past and the handling is totally two different worlds. I have to remind myself on the road that I am towing...I never had to remind myself when I was pulling a trailer. Lastly shop long and hard for the right dealer... there are goods ones out there (RV World, Yuma AZ) and bad ones (Mike Thompson, So. Calif). I know you're in Canada so you'll have to do your own shopping around.

RE: Beware of Mike Thompson's RV

There a couple of RV magazines that have a department which attempts to resolve this type of issues between RV'ers and providers. I think Trailer Life is one of them. For what it is worth, I bought my Keystone Sprinter from RV World, Yuma, AZ and have always been treated great.

RE: Ever been snubbed or ashamed because of your RV?

5erTrailerTrash I agree that is certainly a possibility. That is the problem with the issue of racism...it often disguised as simply being a jerk. I agree with you...there is no way to know for sure.

RE: Ever been snubbed or ashamed because of your RV?

I’m not sure if I was snubbed for my RV or not. I pull a 2006 Fifthwheel from Keystone…of which I’m reasonably proud. Pulled into Whiskey Flats RV Park in Hawthorne, NV on May 22, 2008 at approximately 1:00 p.m. I had been driving to Hawthorne, Nevada for a few hours and my highest priority upon arriving at the Park was a visit to the rest room facilities. I entered the park office to request the code to the outside restroom. I asked “do you have a code to the restroom”, his response was “yes we have a code” period. His demeanor and tone was clearly “why should I give you the code”. This park is out at the edge of town and inset from the road; I seriously doubt that there is a problem with transients coming through just to use the restroom. When I returned to the office after visiting the restroom the employee was at the computer with his back to me for a minute or so without any words being said. There were no other customers and there did not appear to be anything pressing to justify his inattention. After a minute or so, he turned around and grunted to me to complete the form on the counter. We discussed the services needed and I showed him what I believed to be my Good Sam Card. It turned out to be a temporary card that had expired. The employee began to lecture me on the correct color of the Good Sam Card. I asked about the access code for the wireless system, he stuck a piece of paper into the registration brochure and without a word, pushed it toward me. I ignored his surly attitude and we completed the registration. I don't know was I snubbed because of my rig (which is pretty clean) or because of my race (Mexican American).

RE: Using RV Park Internet vs secure WiFi

Stevelv, I depend on Anchor Free but you make a good point, what do you know about JiWire... that is a fee service that does the same thing.

RE: Who is using this kind of Direct TV setup?

I use Direct TV with a roof mount. I cursed the engineers until I became experienced with zeroing in on the satellite. Now it takes me about 5 minutes to zero in on the satellite. I assume that with an outside tripod, you'd need someone outside helping you adjust. With the internal system, I need no one else because I can monitor the TV as I zero in. I simply input the zip code to where I am at, it gives me the latitude that I need. As to Azmuth, I simply scroll slowly down until I get a high pitched hum from my TV.

RE: Is a Broadband card the way to go?

I had verizon broad band before I retired and let it go when I retired. It is expensive, 50 or so a month. With a little effort you can ensure that you will have wireless at the parks you stay and truck stops on the road. Many are now offering free or fee programs. An RV Park without some resource is at a disadvantage and they are begining to realize that disadvantage. But if you want coverage on the road, you may have no choice but to sign up with AT&T, Sprint or Verizon premium services...they are comparing notes on fees so it isn't exactly vicious competitition.

RE: Using RV Park Internet vs secure WiFi

My question is closely aligned to the issue...by the way I use Anchor Free which is free. It sets up the VPN connection...yes I have to put up with ad banners etc but nothing is free right? If there are any gurus out there that can help with improving my signal reception in RV Parks, I'd appreciate it. I tried a little Hawking Satellite looking thing but it didn't do anything. I took it back to Fry's. Anyone know of a truly serious signal booster for under 200.
